What is the best way to move forward with a speed limit increase for Antelope Meadows. I would propose the 25mph be increased to 35mph. Is this something that Yavapai County would have to consider? It takes so long to drive home on such an empty desolate road. 25mph is far to slow for such a minimally populated area. Pronghorn Ranch in PV even allows 30mph.

I agree that the speed is too slow. Even raising it to 30 miles would help us get home earlier. Of course there are neighbors with children that board and unboard the bus. The individuals that speed now will carelessly speed no matter what speed is posted. Do you know how we can appeal the speed?

Thank you all for your concerns on the speed limit. The speed is set by the county. The reason that the speed is 25 mph is because there are residential driveways that are accessed off of Antelope Meadows Drive. The reason that Pronghorn has the higher speed limit is because they do not have any driveways from residences that are accessed off of Antelope Meadows Rd. Hope this answers your question. There will be an Antelope Meadows board meeting on April 16 at 6:30 PM at the HUSD Transportation building that you can attend and ask further questions.

I spoke with Yavapai County and they are reviewing a request for a speed limit increase to 40mph.. Hopefully our rural agricultural area will have the speed limit increased to 40mph.

Personally I think increasing the speed limit on Antelope Meadows is a bad idea. As Guest pointed out above, careless drivers will drive carelessly regardless of what the speed limit is. In my assessment at least 7 out of 10 cars that pass my house are going well over 25. I'm pondering away to encourage the County to actually enforce the speed limit. I'd love to see speed bumps in fact. As stated earlier there are children that access the road. There's also livestock, dogs, people riding their bikes, and people walking. If you drive 2 miles at 35 mph as opposed to 25, you save yourself one minute and 22 seconds. I personally wouldn't lobby for making an already unsafe road less safe so I could get home a couple of minutes early.
